Announcement time!

15 Jan

joshua tree w (3 of 10)Hello to my wonderful followers, all 200+ of you!  I just recently passed the 200 mark, and I was super excited but also have been very busy, and couldn’t figure out exactly how I should announce it/celebrate, so I didn’t post anything about it yet.  Today’s post is actually to announce something else… That my main website is now hosted with a different company, so this is no longer lysbleudesigns.com, and that website is different, although mostly the same.  I installed WordPress over there and imported everything from here over to there, but I am in process of updating the site, so some things will be changing.  My Hipstamatic photos are only available on here, not there.  I will be making all my posts over there though, and not really doing anything new here.  So, please GO THERE AND FOLLOW ME!!  The one thing I didn’t think about when switching everything is that now that I finally hit the lovely 200 follower mark, I am losing every single one of you and starting over at zero there.  BOOOOOOO!!  So please, please, please spread the love over to the new site!

I am going to try to repost my posts over there on here, so that I don’t abruptly cut everything off for you all, but I have not tried that yet so I cannot guarantee that it will work.  I think it should though, but just follow the new one now and you won’t have to worry about it! 🙂

I love you all and you are wonderful, thank you for your support here!

*I included a lovely photo from our recent trip to Joshua Tree, to further tempt you over to the new site, because I will be making a post there with more of those photos. 🙂

Happy New Year!!

1 Jan

072_12131_fullHappy New Year!! 2015 was a CRAZY year, both personally and for the business! Hubby (the cute one, pictured here) was gone for the first part of the year (which was only half of the the deployment) and I was discovering San Diego on my own, with my baby puppy Widdle. The last half has been a whirlwind, including losing Widdle, getting two new baby puppies, Wicket and Weechee, moving to a new place, much more exploring, and becoming a member of Spanish Village and figuring out what to do with my business. At the beginning of the year, I was going to pursue photojournalism, but I had no idea that I would get the opportunity to be one of the artists at Spanish Village! I am excited to continue to photograph the things that I love the most, and for 2016, the current plan is to expand into product photography. I love capturing interesting details, angles, etc. when I take photos, so I would love to be able to use my perspective to try to take great photos of people’s products!

This is me sorta making New Year’s resolutions, because I’ve never been into that. So it’s my business goal for the year; product photography! My other goal is to enjoy life as much this year as last year, and even more!  I am also going to try to be better at posting on here. 🙂  I hope all of you had wonderful 2015’s and have even better 2016’s ahead!

Thank you to Robyn Icks Photography for the amazing photo!

Weekly Photo Challenge: (Extra)ordinary

16 Oct

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “(Extra)ordinary.”

Alright y’all… This is my FAVORITE thing to photograph.  I don’t post as many of them, because I’m never sure if other people like them as much as I do, but seriously, my favorite thing in the world to take photos of is “ordinary” things.  I am very detail-oriented, so I notice little things that others often do not.  In addition, I find almost everything beautiful.  Give me something “boring”, and there’s a good chance I can pick out something about it that I find beautiful.  And then cry about it, because I cry about beautiful things.  Yup, that’s me…cries about everything.  It’s great!

I had a hard time choosing one photo for this challenge, as you might guess from what I just said…I might have to make my own regular posts of (extra)ordinary things!  I just took this photo yesterday, so I choose it because it was my most recent (extra)ordinary thing, and one I hadn’t edited yet.  I was also excited to have a use for these fabulous mushrooms, because I wasn’t sure what to do with them otherwise. 🙂 I absolutely hate mushrooms as a food, I keep trying but I have not yet found a mushroom that I like, but I am completely fascinated by them, and tend to freak out when I find some.  Just look at them!!  Aren’t they fantastic?!

Huntington Beach

9 Oct

Surf City, USA!  One of my favorite beach towns.  I only spent a little bit of time there this trip, because I was just trying to take photos of surfers.  I got to capture a beautiful sunset too though!  I will most likely take more photos there in the future, since I love going there. 🙂

I suppose, for those of you that might travel there but have not yet, maybe you might like some recommendations on things?  I’m no expert on HB, but from what I do know, they have a Tuesday market thing, with a bunch of art and some farmer’s market type stuff also.  In addition, the surf shops have big sales, with many items 50% off.  I totally recommend going on a Tuesday. 🙂 They do have the sales other days too, but I’m not sure of the specifics on that.  Many weekends I think, possibly Fridays.  It’s a happening town. 🙂  Also, if you like sushi, I love Sushi on Fire!  That’s all for now, I have to explore it more myself 🙂

Garden Party of the Century

8 Oct

Anything that has this name, of course I had to go! Since this year is Balboa Park’s centennial anniversary, they are doing a bunch of special things all year long, and a big floral party was one of them. I unfortunately had to miss most of it, but did get to see this one small part of it. You can’t go wrong with flowers!

MotorCars on MainStreet Car Show

30 Sep

I love cars.  If y’all haven’t figured that out already… I particularly love old cars.  I mean…I love super fancy cars too, but your average car now is definitely not as awesome as your average vintage car.  Therefore, vintage car shows are particularly fantastic, such as this one.  It’s the Coronado car show (although not the Coronado Speed Festival, which actually took place two weekends ago, and I missed due to being at Disneyland for Dapper Day!  So many things), and there were so many amazing vintage cars!  It was such a fun car show.

Coronado Flower Show, part 2

This is the second and last set of photos from the Coronado Flower Show, the first is here.

Coronado Flower Show

28 Sep

As I mentioned in my last post, I LOVE flowers.  I have never been to a show that was just flowers, so I was pretty excited to go to the Coronado Flower Show.  It was AMAZING!!  I’ve never seen so many flowers in one place, and there was a great variety of different types of displays, including tiny arrangements, table settings, children’s creations, etc.  There was even some live music!  This is my first post out of two, because I have so many photos!

Barrio Logan

16 Sep

So I decided that I was going to go to each neighborhood in San Diego, and take photos of everything that looked cool.  I made it through one neighborhood so far (and it was the easiest one on the list), with the exception of La Jolla, which I have been working on slowly.  At least I finally edited the photos though, right?  Barrio Logan is an interesting neighborhood, and I haven’t been here long enough to really know much about it.  I don’t want to say much for fear of being wrong about anything, but it seems to have a thriving art community.  It also has (as you can quite obviously see) TONS of murals, which I love.  It’s quite beautiful, although the neighborhood still looks pretty poor.  It’s an interesting contrast, but I love all the character it has.  I also love all the effort “they” (whoever “they” are) are putting into it.  It will be interesting to see the future of Barrio Logan.
